Clear the Hallways, Please!

Now that the new school year has begun we ask that you set up a meeting place outside the school rather than waiting for your child indoors. The space you create makes movement in the halls easier and safer. Children learn to be independent as they use the appropriate doors to enter and exit the school. Students have assigned doors which they should use when coming or going and should not use the front doors of the school. Your cooperation is appreciated as we seek to create a safe school for your child.

World Vision Club

We Did It!

Glen Dhu raised over $7,500.00 for the World Vision Club project to help build a school in Africa! In partnership with Brooklin Village Public School we have enough money to build a school in Thiappy, Senegal! Thank you to the Glen Dhu community for contributing to and supporting the World Vision Club in all their efforts throughout the year. The students, staff and parents celebrated at an assembly this week and witnessed Mr. Howe keeping his promise.....if we were able to reach our goal he would shave his head.....and here is the result!

Kiss and Ride

car_ride_ganson

At Glen Dhu we believe in the motto Safety over Convenience. With this in mind we have developed a specific traffic flow and a Kiss 'n Ride area for the safe arrival and departure of your children. Please follow the guidelines sent home.

Do:

  • walk whenever possible
  • follow the signs in the parking lot and street area
  • use the Kiss 'n Ride
  • wait until 3:25 p.m. to pick up your child in order to give them time to get outside
  • follow the student patrol signs
Do Not
  • double park
  • stop and wait to pick up or drop off students in the middle of parking lots
  • reverse out of one way traffic areas
  • block the bus loading zones
  • use the handicap parking areas illegally
  • use the kindergarten/day care lot unless you have children in that program

If you are getting caught in the flow of traffic why not drop your child off 5 minutes earlier?

Please remind your children to NOT cut across the parking lots to meet you after school or at lunch. Use the appropriate walkways to avoid potentially dangerous situations! If you set the example for them, we will be able to keep our students safe.

Lunchroom Expectations

apple_core_01

Please read over the 'lunchroom expectations' that your child will bring home. Go over these with your children to ensure that they understand the appropriate behavior when staying for lunch. Eating lunch at school is a privilege offered to those students who are bused, whose parents or guardians are unable to be home for the lunch period, or whose families are unable to find alternate lunch arrangements. Glen Dhu is an environmentally aware school. Please help us out by sending litterless lunches by using recyclable/reusable food containers. Please note that students who stay for lunch are not allowed to leave the school property unless they provide a note to their teacher. A new note is required each time!
